Calibrated Variable Shielded Attenuators

  These variable dial attenuators are specially designed for applications where space is limited and where a vertical dial presentation of attenuating information is desirable.  They find wide application for use in power setting applications, for padding microwave devices and for isolation in waveguide networks.  They may be readily incorporated into equipment where through the panel operation is required.  Their small, rugged design makes them ideally suited for field use.  They also find wide application as auxiliary attenuating devices in general laboratory work.
  Smoot, accurate control of the parallel attenuating vane is provided by means of a precision lead screw with readout show in a multi-turn dial, which is calibrated to 30dB.  Features have been incorporated to assure excellent stability over wide ranges of temperature and humidity.  The design also assures excellent shielding making it an ideal device for operation at low levels in cases where high exterior R.F. fields are present.
  Attenuation is increased by a clockwise rotation of the knob.  A locking device in incorporated.  Calibration charts are supplied at a single frequency, as shown in the table, in 5dB steps to 30dB.  Maximum insertion loss is 0.5 dB.  Alternate flanges and materials are available.  See flange section.  Finish is instrument gray enamel.
